Day 1:
AM/PM: Transfer from the airport to your chosen hotel.
PM: Early
afternoon
free to relax, take the hotel shuttle to shops, explore on foot. Late
afternoon take our Mangrove Safari tour upstream by boat to explore the nearby mangroves. Stop
first at the riverside tomb of the 18th century Sultan, then explore
quietly along narrow channels to look for Proboscis Monkeys, Macaques,
monitor lizards, birds and occasionally a crocodile. Our guide will
explain the mangrove ecology and the diversity of wildlife this tangled
environment supports. On sunset emerge to photograph the Sultan's Palace
from this best viewpoint, then proceed through the centre of Bandar Seri
Begawan and water village as
the lights begin to illuminate. Return to
hotel.
Day 2:
AM: Half day Cultural Heritage Tour, with water village. Gain
an
insight into the country, it's recent history, the Royal Family, and the
cultural heritage. Visit the Brunei Museum,
The Royal Regalia Museum, Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque and the Water
Village (morning tea). Drive to the previous and
current Sultan's palaces for a photo stop. Lunch beside the Brunei River.
PM: Take the local water taxi to Temburong to start a one night
immersion in Brunei's uniquely preserved rainforest. Visit a longhouse
(afternoon tea), agricultural areas (learn about the traditional
practices and local produce), and take a guided jungle walk to a
waterfall. Return to our motel style accommodation at Bangar, with
air-conditioned rooms and dining area. Take an evening walk around the
town, relax on the verandah or in the air-conditioned facilities.
Day 3:
AM: Depart early for the 10 kilometre journey upstream in our longboats,
through the Temburong River rapids, to the Ulu Temburong
National Park. Travel further upstream, deep inside the park. Explore
along walkways and suspension bridges. Watch for wildlife, including
Proboscis Monkeys, Long Tailed Macaques and Hornbills. Visit observation
towers. Walk along a jungle creek to visit a hidden waterfall, try our Rapid Riders in the
river. Return downstream to the National Park entrance for lunch;
local buffet.
PM: Settle into the National Park accommodation, explore around the
many kilometres of elevated walkways, swim and relax. Optional Canopy
Walkway visit near sunset, weather permitting. Swim or walk around the elevated walkways,
Day
4:
AM:
Early rise and walk to the Canopy Walkway in
darkness. View sunrise from the Canopy Walkway, watching the
morning parade of birds and forest wildlife. Return to your
accommodation for breakfast. Later in the morning return downstream in
the longboat to Batang Duri; visit the mini-zoo to see some of the
secretive rainforest wildlife. Transfer to our Bangar Lodge
for lunch and shower.
PM: Explore the shops (time permitting) before
returning by water taxi to Bandar Seri Begawan. Shopping or
relax in the town area before transfer to the airport for your
outgoing flight.

for 10 kilometres in our longboats, through the Temburong River

Cross the suspension bridge
and walk to the Canopy Walkway to climb the towers and be
above the trees. Take your time to look and listen for monkeys, birds and other
wildlife. River levels permitting, travel further upstream by longboat to walk along a jungle
creek, visit a hidden waterfall, and try our Rapid Riders in the
river. Return downstream to the National Park entrance for
lunch.
PM: Swim, relax or walk around the elevated walkways, then return downstream in
the longboat to Batang Duri; visit the mini-zoo to see some of the
secretive rainforest wildlife. Transfer back to Bangar town for
afternoon tea and shower at our Bangar Lodge; explore the shops if time permits. Water taxi ride back to BSB. Shopping
or walk around the town centre, then transfer to
the airport for your flight out.
