Helen Yeo
(Australia - 6 day programme - Brunei and Sabah)
"Well we are
back home - and back to the old routine already.
However we have had a fantastic experience in Brunei/Borneo
and will never
forget it!! Your personalised tours were a great way to find
out all about
the people and their culture.
Tales of the Polo Club and the Empire Hotel feature high on
our list of
stories and photos, perhaps not quite so much the trip to
the Island (!!),
although it was certainly interesting from the point of view
of mangroves
etc. The photos of dripping wet people are a story
themselves to be told.
We thoroughly enjoyed the cultural tour with Pg Yusri around
Bandar - he
had lots of knowledge and explained everything well. The
Jungle trip was
probably the highlight of our stay. We did the canopy walk
at both sunset and dawn and were in awe of the sight. Also
lucky enough to see Gibbon on the move and some birds. The
three staff we had in the jungle looked after us really
well. We certainly would never go hungry, and always knew
what to expect next.
The day Ian and I spent in Sandakan was great too. Jair was
very helpful
and again seemed to have lots of local knowledge. The
Orangutans were
amazing and we really enjoyed the Agnes Keith house - Land
Below the Wind
will be my Easter reading!! The war memorial was a real
eye-opener and I
found it quite moving.
All in all we must thank you for the great tours you had
organised - it is
hard to imagine that we could have a guide for such a small
group, but it
was a great way to find out all about the country and its
people. It is
probably the only overseas place I have visited where I feel
that I gained a
true understanding of the life and the history there.
Thank you for everything."
Heidi
Quine (Australia - Half day Brunei stopover):
"Just wanted to say I
had an absolutely brilliant time on the Mangrove Safari.
Joey was a wonderful, friendly guide and the animal spotting
skills of the driver were nothing short of remarkable to say
the least!!
My expectations and hopes were exceeded entirely. I was
excited about getting up close to some wild primates and was
ecstatic as I saw crab eating macaques and countless
Proboscis monkeys. The highlight was watching a Proboscis
troupe launch through the canopy (there was an ominous
cracking sound as one of the big males leaped past). We even
managed to spot a tiny baby, couldn't have been more than a
few weeks old.
The bonus of being able to have morning tea in the water
village was a welcomed surprise and a once in a life time
opportunity. It helped me better understand the life of a
Brunei local."
Lindsay &
Joan McKnight (New Zealand - 4 day Brunei stopover
programme):
"Just a note to thank you & your team for the great tour
you gave us in Brunei a couple of weeks ago. We arrived
home safely with great memories of your informative
great value for money tour.
We hope to be able
to return to take another intrepid Tour & will certainly
be telling our friends and family about your company.
All the best. Hope
to visit again one day."
Jerome Herrero
(France - a Brunei and Sabah programme):
"Allan, I just came back to
France. I want to thank you for your warm welcome & your
big help in Brunei. I was very happy to visit the water
village in Bandar Seri Begawan and Ulu Temburong
National Park. Most of all, I appreciated very much the
kindness of all your staff in BSB & in the National
Park. The (Intrepid Guest-house) bunkroom in Bangar was very comfortable ....
So I went to Lawas by (Intrepid's) car. Then I took a bus from Lawas
to Kota Kinabalu. I climbed successfully Mount Kinabalu
at Low's Peak (4095 m).
The canopy walkway
in Ulu Temburong National Park is really impressive &
breathtaking. .... One day I will visit again
Brunei & all its marvelous places. It was very nice to
meet you & I am very thankful for all."
Melanie Moses
(Australia - a three day stopover programme in Brunei):
"Stefano and I wanted
to thank you for the fabulous tour of Brunei.
You were
correct, you guys certainly do not skimp on service
quality.
The trip was
so eventful, the people friendly and everything very
well organised.
I will recommend
your agency to everyone."
Robin and Rhonda Boyle
(Australia - a 15 day tailor-made programme in Brunei and
Sabah):
"We did have a
wonderful two weeks, one of the best holidays we have
ever had. Being personalised, it meant we hardly wasted
any time (getting transport, finding accommodation,
going to banks, etc) and we feel we had three weeks
holiday in two. (We felt a bit flat in Singapore, but
managed to fill in the 24 hours to when we flew out.)"
Nathan Cook
(Australia - leading a group of 8 UK friends on a 2 week
Borneo trip - 3 days in Brunei):
"Allan, now that we are all
safely ensconced back in our real worlds I would just
like to say a big Thank You on behalf of all of us who
visited Brunei recently. With the conclusion of the trip
last Sunday came much reflection and we all agreed that
Brunei was an unexpected highlight of a truly wonderful
two weeks. I have no doubt that this was in large part
to your enthusiasm for Brunei, its way of life and your
ability to share that with us."
Mr & Mrs Butterworth (UK - Ulu Temburong
National Park - day tour): "The lunch
was better than the meals we've experienced so far at Empire
Hotel. And the staff were great. An excellent day"
Michael Booley (UK - Ulu Temburong
National Park - Overnight Tour):
"The tour was fantastic! We
both really enjoyed it............ We saw both the sunset and
rise from the walkway and were extremely lucky to witness a
flying fox/squirrel launch itself into flight just a few feet
from us on the top walkway. Amazing!
Overall this was a fantastic
experience for us both. Thank you. "
Terry & Bev O'Connell
(Australia - 4 weeks in NW Borneo):
"We wish to convey our thanks to Intrepid and all
the people involved in our tour. The tour was exceptionally
informative and extremely enjoyable."
Al Ronberg (New
Zealand - a tailor made independent travel programme in
Brunei and Sabah):
“My wife and I recently
traveled through Borneo and Allan from Intrepid was an
absolute asset when it came to planning everything! We had
an elaborate timetable with lots of different requests, and
none of this was a problem. I would not hesitate to
recommend Allan and his team for any trips you may have
planned in the Borneo region!”
Josh & Erin Morris
(Australia - 4 day Brunei programme):
"... just getting back
into everyday life and work has been so hard after our
great time in Brunei. Thank you for all you did, and for all
your team there. We had such a great time and really enjoyed
being able to experience something completely different. I'm
glad you had suggested to do the tour thing because it was
definitely the side of Brunei that we will remember the most
about. In the future it would be great to come back sometime
and do the Sarawak and Sabah thing as well.
We had a great meal on the night whilst up in the National
Park, where
we sat and ate traditional style (on the floor with our
hands) and this
was a great experience that I think others should
experience too."
Pam
Connor (Australia - participant on our 14 day Brunei
& Sabah package):
"After
reading through the proposed itinerary, I was highly exhilarated and made the life changing decision
to go. The competence and efficiency of the network involved
with the execution of the tour was excellent.
All guides and hosts
were proficient and charming.
The diverse contrasts of
cultural traditions was educating and enriching as we
explored the countryside and jungle environs. It truly was an
expedition of electrifying experiences. I found myself
intoxicated by the superb beauty I was constantly surrounded
by.
From opulence, wealth
and luxury that was graciously shared, to the welcoming,
hospitable reception of the humble, modest and unassuming.
The feelings of compassion that were evoked for humanity was
almost overwhelming.
The quest was much
more than an earthly experience, it was a soul soothing
odyssey, a voyage into the depths of my existence that
challenged not only my physical systems but my beliefs &
values.
What I gained from
this adventure is paramount and would recommend it to
anyone. Thank you to everyone involved."
Peter Blatch OAM (Scouts Australia -
National Commissioner, Adult Training and Development. Four day
- tailor made - Brunei to Kota Kinabalu tour):
"Just a note to express our
sincere thanks for the great trip you arranged for us (15 Scout
leaders). You really gave us some great experiences in four
days. For a diverse age group - sixteen to mid sixties - you
planned some great activities and we were exposed to many more.
Your attention to detail and the insights of the guides
you arranged were terrific and much appreciated. There were so
many highlights. Overall we really had a terrific time. We
received value for our money and loved the variety your tour
offered."
Elias Arochukwu (Brunei Shell
Petroleum - Team Building training day in Temburong):
"We had a great day
yesterday and every member of the team enjoyed every bit of the
programme. We were very delighted with the level of
professionalism and service rendered by your staff and company
and we indicated that much to your staff on the ground
yesterday.
Please, on behalf of my team, we are grateful for all the
efforts that went into the planning and the excellent delivery.
Well done."
Simon Turner (Brunei -
3d/2n Ulu Temburong National Park tour for his family):
"I just wanted to say thank
you for such a great trip to Temburong. I also wanted to let you
know that Ken and Enya were both absolutely fantastic as guides.
They were both friendly and helpful to us throughout the trip
and know a lot about the area and wildlife. The food that Ken
prepared was delicious; he even bought some Durian from Enya's
father's farm for us to try! I would wholeheartedly recommend
Ken and Enya for any future trips."
Girls
Brigade (Brunei - youth development programme in
Temburong):
"The
customised outdoor camp was brilliant! Our members were
exposed to a rich knowledge of our rainforest and its values -
a heritage we often take for granted or forgotten. The
activities challenged our members on their strengths and
weaknesses and towards a self-discovering path and acquiring
skills which can enhance their youthful lives.
Allan
has an excellent team on board and they are informative,
responsible and accommodating."
Leo
Maekiaho (Malaysia - two days, culture and wildlife, in Brunei):
"Just to tell you, we had a fantastic stay in Brunei. The
visit to the Polo Club was the highlight. Your guide was
very good and to enjoy the amenities of the Polo Club was an
experience. I will recommend this to my friends."
Marileen
and Alex Loopik (Brunei - 2d/1n Ulu Temburong Nat
Park):
"A
quick note to let you know we just returned from a very nice
trip to Temburong with your company and enjoyed every moment.
We
like to specially say thank you to our guide Sanisah, as she
really did a very good and professional job. She made us feel
at home very easily, was a cheerful companion and always
very helpful to accommodate our wishes. She had everything
well under control!
Sanisah
and the staff also were very good with our children, they had
a great time too.
Thank
you."
Elaine Philpott (Australia - four days,
culture and eco-tours, in Brunei):
"I
wanted to say once again, how pleased I am to have
found your service. I'm certain that our visit to Brunei
would not have been half as good had we not had your staff to look after us so
well. We had a great time in Brunei, and Luke really loved it
all. It was a great experience for him. "
Ronnie
Lim (Singapore - fishing trip in Brunei):
"I was much encouraged to find someone (yourself) who
quickly understood what I needed, and soon put together a
suitable program with just a few iterations. I had expected
a lower level of service.
The
service, care and attention to detail provided by your company
is nothing short of excellent. I have not come across such
consistently good staff and associates in any other similar
operation."
