Accommodation Locations:

Central Bandar Seri Begawan Area:
This is the original central shopping and business area of Bandar Seri Begawan.  It still gives the most convenient access to banks, money changers, High Commission and Embassies (UK, Australia, USA, Canada and French all within a few hundred metres of each other), plus a large shopping mall (Yayasan), numerous smaller shops and some trendy cafes. The traditional central fruit and vegetable market, General Post Office, water taxis to Temburong, nearby water village,  Royal Regalia, Mosque, Chinese temple, Christian churches, and evening food stalls are all within walking distance.

Gadong/Centrepoint Area:
This is the bustling commercial and shopping area. Like many cities, the newer, most attractive shopping areas are no longer in the central business district. The largest night market (fruit and vegetables) and local style take-away food stall area in Bandar Seri Begawan is within walking distance of two hotels (Centrepoint and Rizqun) and one budget accommodation (SAMEAO Hostel). The Mall (cinemas, fitness centres, jewlery, phone, CD, electronics etc shops) and lots of other nearby shop houses make this a very busy and popular area with locals. If shopping is important, or you are accompanied on business with a partner who needs daytime distractions, this is a good place to be.

Stadium/Airport Area:
Brunei has excellent sports facilities and these are focussed around the Stadium area. It's an active region for joggers, cyclists, swimmers, tennis, squash, badminton and more each evening.  The International Convention Centre is adjacent and the airport is only five minutes drive away; but not under the flight path. The main government office complexes, ministries, departments etc are just two to 5 minutes drive away. The two hotels in this area - Orchid Garden and D'Angerrek - can be difficult to get rooms during conventions and sports events.

Jerudong Area:
This is the location of many recreational facilities established by the Royal Family and accessible to overseas visitors. This includes the Royal Brunei Golf and Country Club, Jerudong Park Playground,  Jerudong equestrian facility for horse rides, polo and equestrian training, and Empire Hotel and Country Club for golf, swimming and resort style activities.
