Brunei Bay Regatta Series

Brunei to Philippines Race

The 2006 Brunei to Philippines race of the Brunei Bay Regatta Series is scheduled for Thursday 9th to Friday 17th February.  

Following discussions with yacht owners and crews, the proposed race format has been revised for 2006. Yachts choose their own start time to complete the race as fast as possible within the defined race period.  The race period begins at 0100 on a Thursday, three days following the completion of the Brunei Bay Regatta, and ends approximately nine days later at 1800 on a Friday.

Competing yachts may begin their race by crossing the start line anytime within the race period. Yachts determine their date/time of start based upon their assessment of weather, wind, tide, crew and boat factors, plus expiry of the race period. 

Yachts record their start date/time (from GPS) and notify Race Control by HF radio. Yachts must complete the course within the defined race period to be recorded as finished and eligible for prizes.

In 2006 the race period is expected to be Thursday 9th to Friday 17th February.

The race finish will be at Puerto Galera.  The Puerto Galera Yacht Club may host a local regatta for visiting and local yachts on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th February.

The presentation ceremony for the Brunei to Philippines race, and the Brunei Bay Regatta Series, is planned for Saturday 18th February at Puerto Galera Yacht Club.
