Sail BIMP-EAGA Exploring Equator Asia

The Association of Travel Agents, Brunei is the present chair of the BIMP-EAGA Tourism Council. The BETC, the BIMP-EAGA Business Council (BEBC) and the BIMP-EAGA Joint Tourism Development Cluster (JTD - private and government sectors) have endorsed the initiative of Intrepid Management Services Sdn Bhd to create, design and operate Sail BIMP-EAGA.

EQUATOR ASIA is the tourism brand name chosen by the BIMP-EAGA Tourism Council for BIMP-EAGA tourism marketing. It was formally announced by the Tourism Ministers from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines at the ASEAN Travel Forum in Brunei in January 2010.

Sail BIMP-EAGA is the name chosen to describe the annual programme of (presently) four cruise-in-company events which facilitate the tourism marketing goals for EQUATOR ASIA. At the November 2009 BIMP-EAGA Strategic Planning workshops, Sail BIMP-EAGA was selected as a key JTD (ie: government and private sector) tourism marketing project for BIMP-EAGA to be implemented in 2010/11

These Sail BIMP-EAGA events are made possible by the considerable support, encouragement and co-operation of many organisations, their staff and volunteers.

These include:

Dinah Beach Cruising Yacht Association.   The EQUATOR ASIA pre-cruise venue in Darwin, and organisers of the Darwin to Ambon race/rally.

The Indonesian Marine Tourism Association. The local knowledge and expertise of GAHAWISRI members is contributing to the planning and success of Equator Asia Yacht rally events in Indonesia.
